Todays meeting

Thanks to our host/guest speaker Donnie Walker.  He told us about the history of McElrath Mill and Cobb Ice Plant that had once been located at the site.  He also told us stories about his childhood growing up nearby on Terrapin Creek.  He later gave us a tour of the property.  

Our next meeting

The Cherokee County Historical Society will be meeting inside the former Creekside Fish & Grill, 400 County Road 441, Centre, AL. 35960, on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10:30AM CT.  

Our Guest Speaker, Donnie Walker, will be discussing McElrath Mill and Cobb Ice Plant that were located on the site.  The restaraunt was built on the foundations of the old mill and the mill dam is still in place.  It is a beautiful location on Terrapin Creek.  

The Society will be also be voting to fill our vacancy at secretary. 

Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
